Our mission is to involve young people in cultural life, support local and emerging talent in their search for a stage, organize unforgettable activities and connect people .

Name
TROEP owes its name to the group (= Dutch: troep) of young people from the neighbourhood who like to organise events, are creative and passionate about everything that culture has to offer (music, dance, theatre, art, engineering, ...).
​
It is also a reference to the military identity of the municipality of Leopoldsburg, as a troep can also mean a group of soldiers in Dutch.
Founding
TROEP is an initiative of the Cultural Center Leopoldsburg in partnership with the municipality of Leopoldsburg.

The idea originated from the event: 'Festival Local', in which local youth could partly choose their own programme.
​
The TROEP project offers young people cultural breathing space, adapts the cultural centre's programming to young people by giving them input, and thereby it generates passion for the cultural sector.

Meet the Team
Felix
Hey, my name is Felix, I am studying electromechanical engineering and have been with TROEP since November 2021. I have a big heart for technology including light and sound.
Jotti Kamitidis
I am Jotti, I study Tourism and Recreation Management and I have been at TROEP for a year now. I like to organize things and I love the excitement from the backstage. That's how I started as a volunteer in the cloakroom of cc Leopoldsburg, where I came in contact with TROEP. Now I also help organise activities with TROEP!

Dierckx
Hey, I'm Sarah and I have been a member of TROEP since September 2021. I'm in my 2nd year of marketing and communication support. I have a passion for theatre and love to help organise events. I feel good both in front of and behind the scenes. I came into contact with TROEP through my internship. Now I like to help organise the activities!
